Translator

Reviews and translates articles of interest to the defense Attaché Office (DAO) from commercial and publicly available news media and interests. Responsible for translation services for documents provided by the government of Israel to the DAO for onward transmission to U.S. policy makers and Department of Defense (DOD) officials. Translates documents received by DAO officials and other U.S. Government personnel, as required. Provides interpretation services for DAO/DoD personnel meeting with non-English speaking Israeli officials. Hebrew into English and vice versa, a wide range of media in Israel.

Work experience: Minimum of three (3) years of English language translation experience out of which minimum of two (2) years' experience working with or within Israeli military forces.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in English Linguistics, Translation Studies, interpreting Studies, or similar field is required.

LANGUAGE: Level 4 (Fluent) in English is required and level 4 Hebrew (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing is required. These may be tested.

JOB Knowledge:

• Familiar with standard office and information management practices such as files and resource management.

Skills and Abilities:

• Credentialed by International Association of Conference Interpreters and Translators (AIIC), Israel Translators Association or similar Professional Association.
• Trained in utilization of Microsoft Office suite
• Highly familiar with MS operating system (Windows 8 or higher).
• Applied Research Skills (Microfiche, Library, Data Research, ADP)
