Learning and Development Manager

Note: Although we are a PM-first organization, this position is not a stepping stone to becoming a Product Manager. This is an L&D position for someone who already has experience in the field and wants to grow within it in a meaningful way.

We are Product League, the most trusted mentorship program for Product Managers across more than 30 countries around the globe. We are looking for an experienced Learning & Development professional to join our League and move the needle.

How do we see L&D?

We believe Learning and Development is all about understanding human dynamics and using them to help people learn something new, develop skills, and feel connected.

In this role, you’ll help us shape the learning and development experience of both the mentors and mentees at our program.

As you can probably tell, this is a very human-centered position, and we are looking for someone who is very human-focused. We need you to do what AI cannot do.

You are not going to spend your time generating content or writing the next “How to... Something” blog post. You will be asked to use evaluation, analysis, design, and delivery to create measurable impact on both our participants and the company’s bottom line.

That includes, but is absolutely not limited to: 

• Evaluation: Interview participants and evaluate mentoring relationships and learning experiences.
• Analysis: Analyze engagement data, investigate drop-off, and design surveys that help us understand why people behave the way they do.
• Design: Design onboarding experiences, learning interventions, and assessments.
• Delivery: Run experiments, improve our eLearning experience, and turn what you learn into changes that can be measured.

Note: You won't be doing all of these things every week. We'll identify the highest-impact problem, and you'll be expected to take it from understanding the problem through designing, implementing, and evaluating the solution.

You will help mentors and mentees better understand how to participate meaningfully in the program, make the most of their mentoring relationships, and increase their chances of making meaningful progress at work as a result of it.

Requirements

A minimum of three years of experience as an Community Management professional.

High proficiency in English. You are not required to never make a spelling mistake, but you are going to spend your entire time working in English. We repeat: English only.

What does success look like?

A direct, measurable influence on user engagement KPIs, such as participation, completion, retention, and meaningful engagement with the program.

In other words, you will own the effectiveness behind engagement. Are they engaging with the right things? Are those experiences producing learning/progress? Why aren't they? What intervention would change that?

Why do we need you?

We are launching a new mentorship and Leadership development solution for women in Product leadership . There is a lot we don’t know yet, and we want you to help us figure out what these leaders actually need, what will make a difference, and how to turn that into a learning experience that works. 

What does the work look like?

This is a part-time position (20%): one day a week. You can manage your schedule as you wish, as long as you:

1. Deliver on time.
2. Maintain consistent communication and keep us updated.
3. Attend weekly syncs.

This job is for you if...

You know how to make things work, but you also understand what it means to be part of something bigger, something that requires a macro-level point of view and the ability to balance short-term needs with long-term thinking.

You get curious when something isn't working. You want to understand why before jumping to a solution. You're comfortable using both conversations and data to figure it out, and you don't stop at recommending what someone else should do. You want to see whether your solution actually worked.

Your super powers span diagnosis, learning science, behavioral thinking, experimentation, and evaluation.

This job is NOT for you if…

You need a lot of hand-holding on the one hand (pun intended), or act more like a know-it-all AI than a humble human on the other.

It’s also not for you if you are comfortable with producing courses/content instead of solving learning problems that matter.

What will your first month on the job look like?

You will spend your first month learning the fundamentals of our business and understanding the KPIs your work will be tied to and measured by.

Before the end of your first month, we’ll want to see one moment where you made us better: an insight we missed, a problem you uncovered, an idea worth testing, or a solution you made happen.
