Director of Engineering

We are seeking an exceptional Engineering Leader to direct and scale our high-throughput, revenue-critical platform engine. In this hands-on executive position, you will lead a lean, highly senior engineering organization where architecture directly impacts bottom-line business metrics. Working at the intersection of conversion optimization, distributed systems, and modern AI-driven development, you will balance deep technical execution with strategic commercial ownership.

Core Responsibilities

• Commercial Impact & Conversion Ownership: Drive engineering strategies that optimize funnel velocity, data intake quality, and conversion yields. Partner with product leadership to eliminate efficiency leaks across the technology stack.
• Hands-on Technical Leadership: Maintain high technical currency by designing critical system architecture, writing core platform components, leading incident responses, and prototyping next-generation features.
• AI-First Software Delivery: Deeply integrate modern AI coding assistants, autonomous agents, and AI-native workflows into the R&D lifecycle (targeting 50-70% AI-assisted execution).
• System Health Tracking & Resilience: Establish robust Service Level Objectives (SLOs), automated telemetry, and proactive system health tracking to identify quiet operational failures before they impact business partners.
• Team Scaling & Engineering Culture: Build, mentor, and elevate a high-density team of senior engineers, maintaining elite talent standards and fostering high accountability.
• Architectural Prudence: Make high-stakes architectural decisions that balance rapid deployment with long-term maintainability, managing technical debt strategically.

What You’ll Bring

• 10+ years of total software engineering experience, with at least 5+ years in direct engineering leadership roles.
• Commercial Mission-Criticality: Proven experience running engineering for platforms where system failures carry immediate financial implications (e.g., high-volume transaction processing, ad-tech, billing, lead-gen engines, or digital checkout ecosystems).
• Polyglot Technical Mastery: Strong architectural judgment across diverse backend and data stacks (Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL, and modern cloud infrastructure).
• AI Tooling Mastery: Advanced practical expertise leveraging state-of-the-art AI development tools and agents to radically accelerate development velocity.
• Commercial Acumen: Strong fluency in digital business metrics—unit economics, conversion performance, user acquisition flows, and LTV/margin dynamics.
• Team Construction Track Record: Demonstrated success building high-performing R&D teams from scratch, raising engineering bars, and managing performance proactively.
