Zencity empowers state and local governments with actionable insights to better understand and respond to the needs of their residents. Our research helps public sector leaders address critical challenges such as infrastructure investment, economic development, public safety, and trust in government.

As a data analyst at Zencity, you will combine rigorous survey research with analysis of social media and other qualitative data sources to deliver meaningful, actionable insights across Zencity's full client base. A strong emphasis of this role is on translating complex findings into clear, compelling narratives — and progressively, on planning and implementing the automations and AI-assisted workflows that allow those insights to reach more clients, more consistently, and at greater scale.

This role sits within Zencity's Professional Services / Value team and offers the opportunity to work closely with Customer Success, Methodology, Product, and R&D. You will own research projects end to end — from defining research questions and designing surveys to analyzing multi-source data and crafting clear narratives — while growing into a contributor to the design and scalability of Zencity's research tooling, automation pipelines, and AI-powered delivery processes.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute end-to-end research projects, including survey design, data processing, analysis, and reporting across all client segments
• Analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources — surveys, social media, and external data sets — translating complex quantitative and qualitative findings into clear, compelling stories that connect data to real-world implications and decision-making
• Create high-quality reports, presentations, and visualizations that communicate insights in a structured, intuitive, and engaging way
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of automation processes that enable consistent, scalable delivery of research outputs
• Collaborate with Product and R&D teams to support the development and productization of research tools and workflows
• Leverage and experiment with AI tools to enhance research workflows, from data processing and pattern detection to narrative generation and report templating
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through smart tooling, and contribute to team-wide best practices for scalable research delivery
  
  

• 1–3 years of experience in quantitative and qualitative research and data analysis, with a Bachelor's degree in a social science or related field
• Strong storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex analyses into clear, structured narratives that drive understanding and action
• Experience working with survey data and familiarity with survey design or methodology
• Proficiency in data analysis using tools such as Python and SQL
• An interest in technology, automation, and AI tools, with a genuine curiosity about applying them to scale research and insight delivery
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Native-level English proficiency

• Familiarity with automation tools, APIs, or scripting for data workflows
• Experience analyzing social media or other qualitative data sources
• Experience working in a service-oriented or client-facing role
• Knowledge of U.S. local government, public policy, or civic issues
