PhD Positions in Nanomaterials and Immunoengineering
We are looking for talented and motivated PhD students to join our research team and lead a fascinating project on nanomaterial-based study and control of immune cells.
The project focuses on developing artificial mechanostimulatory niches for T cells, designed to mimic the nanoscale cues of the physiological T-cell microenvironment. The fabrication of these niches will involve novel nanofabrication techniques, both top-down (thin-film deposition, nanolithography, etching) and bottom-up (self-assembly) approaches.
These engineered niches will serve two main goals:
- Fundamental studies of T-cell biophysical signaling and responses to physical cues.
- Engineering of mechanostimulatory microenvironments for the generation of immunotherapeutic T cells, such as chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells.
We seek excellent candidates with an interdisciplinary background, holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Engineering (with an emphasis on biomaterials), Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, or related fields. Prior experience in nanofabrication and experimental cell biology will be considered an advantage.
