PhD Students – Redox Signaling in Inflammation and Cancer

We are looking for highly motivated and curious PhD students to join our research laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry at the Technion Faculty of Medicine.

Our research focuses on redox signaling in inflammation and cancer, with particular interest in how reactive oxygen and sulfur species regulate cellular signaling, protein function, inflammation, and cell death. We study molecular mechanisms involving thiol-based redox modifications, including S-nitrosylation, persulfidation, glutathionylation, and oxidation, as well as the regulatory roles of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), nitric oxide (NO), thioredoxin, peroxiredoxins, and glutathione systems.

Current projects address questions at the interface of redox biology, inflammatory signaling, and cancer biology, including mechanisms regulating cell death pathways and the response of cancer cells to stress and therapy. Our research combines cell biology, molecular and biochemical approaches, advanced fluorescence-based assays, proteomics and mass spectrometry, and quantitative analysis of redox-dependent signaling.

PhD students will have the opportunity to develop and pursue an independent research project, while working in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment. The lab provides training in experimental design, molecular and cellular biology, protein biochemistry, redox biology, proteomics, and data analysis, with opportunities for collaborations with researchers in Israel and internationally.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, cancer biology, or related fields. Previous research experience is highly desirable. Above all, we value scientific curiosity, creativity, perseverance, critical thinking, and enthusiasm for understanding biological mechanisms.
