Biosensor Development for Molecular Diagnostics

A newly established laboratory at the Department of Chemical Engineering at Ariel University in Israel is recruiting PhD students to work on the development and testing of biosensors for molecular diagnostics applications. The work is interdisciplinary and mainly experimental in nature but with some computational component. Positions for students with backgrounds in bio- or chemical engineering, biophysics, or physical/analytical chemistry as well as students with backgrounds in biochemistry and molecular biology who are interested in interdisciplinary work are available. Competitive scholarship funding is provided.

Minimal qualifications include a Master’s degree from an accredited academic institution with a GPA of 3.3 (a grade of 85, or “very good”, on the Israeli scale) or higher in one of the fields specified above, and proficiency in English. Preference will be given to candidates with interdisciplinary backgrounds who have demonstrated a degree of independence through prior research experience and publications.

The duration of a PhD degree at Ariel is four years during which the candidate will be primarily engaged in research activities that are expected to lead to publications in high-quality peer-reviewed international journals. The process culminates in the submission of a Doctoral thesis.
