Vice President of Engineering

For a well established start up company We’re looking for a technically strong and experienced senior manager who has a passion for working on large-scale systems, supporting customers, and operating state-of-the-art products.

In this role, you will lead a globally distributed group in charge of architecture, design, and delivery of our big data ingestion pipeline and platform, originating from integration with hundreds of different on-prem, cloud, and other enterprise systems. We’re looking for an experienced senior manager who is highly motivated, with good attention to detail, has experience working in intense production environments, and is customer oriented.

What you’ll do:

● Define, lead, and continuously improve the processes to develop, maintain and support our big data platform.

● Work closely with the rest of the engineering team, who are dependent on this ingestion and data platform.

● Maintain application and complicated infrastructure components.

● Work directly with customers and customer facing, from small ones to large enterprises on their production needs and issues.

● Work with the rest of the engineering organization, and Product Management, to understand and deliver the requirements of the platform and dependent applications.

● Hire, train, mentor and lead several teams and managers at various levels. 

What will you need to have?

● Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or comparable experience

● At least 15 years of experience in leading engineering groups of tens of people

● People oriented attitude with experience hiring, mentoring and leading several teams and managers across multiple geographies

● Excellent communication (written & oral) and organizational skills, hands-on when needed

● Be self-driven and initiative, with a fire-and-forget attitude

● Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, and working in production environments

● Experience with various tools and technologies such as: MongoDB, Elastic, Kafka, Iceberg, RabbitMQ, Redis, CDC & streaming, ETLs, etc’

● Hands-on experience working with multiple major cloud providers

● Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, including production support

● Strong knowledge and experience with Agile development methodologies

● Experience defining, documenting and implementing software projects

● Experience working with customer facing teams to provide RCAs for production issues
