Vice President of Software Engineering

We are looking for an experienced VP R&D to lead a multidisciplinary R&D organization developing complex connected products that combine hardware, embedded software, cloud platforms and applications.

This is a senior leadership role combining organizational leadership, technical ownership and hands-on engineering involvement. The ideal candidate is a strong technology leader with a proven track record of leading complex HW/SW products from concept through production, while remaining deeply engaged in architecture, design and engineering challenges.

What You'll Do

• Take end-to-end responsibility for the R&D organization, including technology, engineering, quality and delivery.
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary R&D organization spanning software, embedded, technological disciplines.
• Define and execute the R&D strategy, technology roadmap and engineering methodologies in alignment with company and product objectives.
• Provide strong technical leadership and hands-on guidance, including architecture reviews, system design, technical problem-solving and code reviews.
• Maintain a high level of technical involvement and act as a technical authority for the engineering organization.
• Lead multiple complex development initiatives from concept to production, ensuring high-quality execution and predictable delivery.
• Work closely with Product and senior leadership on product strategy, roadmap and technology priorities.
• Drive effective collaboration across Software, Hardware, Embedded, Product, QA and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Build a strong engineering culture focused on technical excellence, ownership, execution, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Recruit, mentor, coach and retain high-performing engineers, managers and technical leaders.

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of experience in software/R&D engineering, including significant experience leading R&D organizations and complex product development.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary products, preferably in IoT, connected devices or other connected-product environments.
• Current or recent hands-on experience with software development, including code reviews, architecture reviews and evaluation of technical implementations.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, scalability, performance and software engineering best practices.
• Experience working across multiple layers of a connected product, such as embedded/firmware, cloud services, backend systems and web/mobile applications.
• Experience defining and executing technology roadmaps and making architectural and technology decisions.
• Experience leading complex products from early-stage development through production and scale.
• Strong people-management skills, with the ability to coach managers, senior engineers and technical leaders.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and communication skills.
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
