Our client seeking a skilled FPGA Design Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team focused on developing advanced Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems.
You will work alongside Electronics, Mechanical, and Software Engineers on next-generation communication technologies that heavily leverage Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
As part of the FPGA team, you’ll play a key role in designing and developing baseband solutions for communication waveforms, high-speed data interfaces, and Internet Protocol (IP) management systems. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about forward-looking technologies and solving complex engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Design FPGA architectures based on product specifications and system-level block diagrams.
- Develop, verify, and integrate FPGA designs into hardware systems, supporting both lab and field testing.
- Implement system-on-chip (SoC) solutions using embedded ARM processors such as Xilinx Zynq or Zynq Ultrascale.
- Handle system integration, debugging, and product bring-up to ensure a smooth transition to manufacturing.
- Collaborate across disciplines to support overall system design and qualification.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Solid background in telecoms, cellular, satellite communications, or broadcast technology.
- Proficiency in FPGA design languages: VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog.
- Hands-on experience with HDL verification, simulation, and regression testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with FPGA design tools for synthesis, timing analysis, and optimization.
- Competency in scripting languages like Python or MATLAB for automation and DSP prototyping.
- Experience with high-speed serial protocols (e.g., JESD), DDR memory interfaces, Ethernet (1G+), AXI buses, etc.
- Practical experience with SoC integration, particularly Xilinx Zynq/Zynq Ultrascale platforms, is highly desirable.
- Strong capability in using hardware debugging tools like chipscope, logic analyzers, and on-chip simulation tools.
- Track record of debugging and validating custom FPGA-based PCBs.
This position requires relocation to the UAE, with the process fully managed and supported by the employer.
