VP R&D – AI, Scalable Web & Mobile

A leading online company is seeking a highly motivated and dinamic VP R&D to lead and mentor diverse engineering teams, drive complex product development, and integrate advanced AI capabilities into its platform.

Reporting to the CTO and managing approximately 20 people.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Lead multiple cross-functional full-stack and Native teams.
• Collaborate with product and architecture leaders to guide the technical direction and successfully deliver on the product roadmap.
• Champion the integration of cutting-edge AI technologies, such as LLMs, Conversational AI, Generative AI, and intelligent recommendation systems, into the platform.
• Encourage the adoption of AI-assisted development tools like Cursor AI.
• Oversee the design and review of architecture plans, solution specifications, and feasibility assessments, ensuring best-in-class implementations.
• Manage project delivery using agile methodologies, ensuring iterative planning and high-quality execution (Jira, Confluence).
• Actively manage risks, timelines, and stakeholder communications, ensuring smooth project execution.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 8–10 years of experience, including 3+ years in an R&D leadership role (e.g., VP, Director, or similar).
• Hands-on experience in developing large-scale web applications using Node.js, React.js, TypeScript, and modern cloud-based architecture.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, API design, CI/CD, and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Extensive experience with AI/ML tools (e.g., OpenAI, Vertex AI, LangChain, recommendation engines).
• Experience with MongoDB .
• Experience with AI coding assistants like Cursor AI or similar tools - a strong advantage.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with a proactive approach.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Kafka, and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Helm) - an advantage.
• Prior experience in high-scale B2C platforms - an advantage.
