Foundation Models Product Manager

As the Foundation Models Product Manager (FM PM), you will oversee the strategic and operational roadmap for AI21’s Large Language Models as a stand-alone product line and as an enabler for other AI21 products. You will orchestrate both short- and long-term planning, ensuring the successful development, release, and positioning of our models. This role includes owning the entire lifecycle of foundation models, from conceptualization and research to go-to-market strategies, serving, and API development.

You will be responsible for balancing high-level strategic planning with day-to-day operational responsibilities, ensuring both short-term goals and long-term visions are met. You will collaborate closely with other product managers and cross-functional teams to understand the needs of our broader product ecosystem, and with high-profile clients to ensure that our foundation models meet market needs and regulatory requirements.

Role and Responsibilities:

Product Planning:

• Lead the planning for the next generation of foundation models, including new models, and updates to existing models.
• Own the roadmap for alignment versions, API updates, and model serving infrastructure.
• Prioritize and align product requirements for foundation models with the requirements of other AI21 products.
• Ensure effective orchestration of the product-focused research that drives continuous innovation and improvement in our Large Language Models’ capabilities.
  
  

• Oversee the go-to-market (GTM) strategy for foundation models line of product.
• Support pricing strategies, messaging, and positioning to maximize the impact of our models in the market.
  
  

• Collaborate with sales teams to drive business opportunities with high-profile enterprise clients.
• Collaborate closely with the partnerships team to integrate our foundation models into major cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  
  

• 5+ years of experience in product management, specifically within the B2B enterprise domain.
• Proven experience working on deep tech or AI/ML/Data products, particularly API-driven products.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and launch technical products, ideally within an enterprise environment.
  
  

• Strong technical background, either through hands-on experience as a technical product manager or working closely with AI/ML, data science, or related fields.
• Ability to communicate effectively with highly technical teams, including algorithm development and engineering, to dive deep into new technical domains quickly.
  
  

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders, C-suite executives, and clients.
• Proven track record of motivating and leading cross-functional teams (algorithm, engineering, marketing, sales) without formal authority to achieve common goals.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to build productive working relationships across departments and with external partners.
  
  

• Ability to analyze market behavior, understand market trends, and conduct competitive analysis to inform product strategy and decision-making.
• Experience in positioning and messaging products in a highly competitive space, with a deep understanding of how enterprise clients use AI/ML products.
  
  

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving technical environment, with a keen sense for identifying emerging trends and opportunities in AI/ML technologies.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to solve complex problems and make data-driven product decisions.
