Job Description:

a. Responsible for the management, operation and maintenance of all infrastructure in the central computer hall. Update of storage systems (backup and recovery).

b. Responsible for testing, initiating, planning, developing, implementing and setting up new storage and backup system technologies at BGU.

c. Responsible for operating monitoring and control systems, defining the required monitoring and control thresholds as well as being responsible for operating the organizational monitoring center.

d. Responsible for preparing a work plan for upgrading and replacing storage and backup systems.

e. Responsible for managing the installation of central and departmental servers in areas of activity: Managing and guiding staff/faculty members in installing software required for use on the servers.

f. Monitoring the implementation of procedures and routines defined for ongoing operation of the systems, and serving on project steering committees for determining the required backup and storage policy for new systems.

g. Assistance in advising staff/faculty when purchasing storage systems and advising staff members on backup issues.

h. Determining SAN (storage area network) settings and allocating storage resources on BGU servers and units.

i. Responsible for work of team of operators.

j. Perform additional tasks under the supervisor’s direction.

Job Requirements:

a. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or natural sciences.

b. Five years’ experience in the relevant fields.

c. Experience in working with monitoring and control systems.

d. Experience in working with storage systems: Netapp, Unity, RecoverPoint.

e. Knowledge of NAS and SAN environments, storage communications.

f. Experience in working in computer operating systems.

g. Preferably experience in working with IBM Spectrum Protect back system.

h. Preferably experience in working with UNIX: Solaris, Linux.
