Arabic Linguist

Overview:

We are currently looking for an Arabic Linguistic Specialist with experience in translating and editing/proofing. Experience in using CAT Tools, style guides and reference materials is required as well. The Linguistic Specialist is a key player at TransPerfect, whose mastery of a particular language will allow them to provide translation and proofreading services within the Life Sciences and marketing fields. The Linguist Specialist will be responsible for all aspects regarding quality within certain language/geographic regions.

Description:

• Understand TransPerfect’s quality standards and ensure they are upheld to meet client expectations
• Take part in and pass all trainings required for Associate Linguists, including but not limited to their subject matter certification, tech tools, TPT production processes, and Quality Assurance processes
• Easily navigate among company resources, including but not limited to, Confluence, Launchpad, technology, etc.
• Perform all linguistic tasks according to project specifications, including but not limited to project instructions, reference materials, language assets (translation memory, glossary, style guide, etc.)
• Follow internal and client processes on all projects
• Work under close supervision of the Team Lead/a more senior member of the team
• Achieve quality and efficiency targets as set by manager/supervisor
• Complete all other tasks that are deemed appropriate for this role and assigned by the manager/supervisor

Required Skills:

• Minimum Bachelor Degree Required
• A degree in translation, linguistic or language studies, OR two or more years of experience in translation/proofing services
• Native Level of Arabic
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English
• Experience in using CAT tools, style guides instructions and reference materials
• Flexibility and adaptability to the different assignments and tasks using the relevant skills and tools in each case (accuracy, creativity, terminology adequacy, etc.)
• Ability to effectively multitask in order to simultaneously execute multiple projects
• Ability to maintain professionalism and focus under pressure and tight deadlines
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Translate/review steps (proof, quality management, testing, etc.) of different types of content (marketing, life sciences, etc.) and target files (Wordfast files, office documents, websites, etc.), ensuring that the instructions are followed and that the quality is ready for client delivery in all steps
