As VP of R&D, you’ll lead cutting-edge developments in proton therapy and play a central role in delivering advanced, patient-centered treatment to clinics and hospitals worldwide.
The VP of R&D, reporting directly to the CEO, will lead all aspects of the company’s research and development activities, from early-stage innovation through to product commercialization. The role includes oversight of system architecture, cross-functional engineering teams, regulatory alignment, and coordination with manufacturing and clinical operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in medical devices, especially in capital equipment and multidisciplinary systems and demonstrate a strong understanding of product lifecycle, regulatory processes, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage a multidisciplinary R&D team including hardware, software, mechanical, and clinical engineering.
• Develop and execute the company’s technology and product roadmap in alignment with strategic objectives.
• Oversee the full product development lifecycle, including feasibility, development, verification and validation, and transition to manufacturing.
• Ensure effective collaboration with Operations to support smooth design transfer and readiness for production scale-up.
• Drive compliance with international medical device standards and regulatory requirements (FDA, CE, ISO 13485, QSR).
• Guide risk management, design controls, and documentation to support regulatory submissions and audits.
• Serve as the technical authority in cross-functional discussions and external engagements with partners, customers, and regulatory agencies.
• Foster an innovative and collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing, quality, and performance.

• BSc/MSc/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in R&D leadership roles in medical device companies, with a preference for capital equipment and multidisciplinary systems.
• Proven experience in regulated product development, including contributions to successful FDA/CE submissions.
• Familiarity with design controls, engineering processes, and cross-functional development frameworks.
• Experience in oncology-focused technologies or clinical environments is a strong advantage.
• Full professional proficiency in English.
