Principal Group Engineering Manager

We are in search of a Principal Group Engineering Manager to lead a group of skilled software engineers and managers. This role entails pioneering sophisticated AI and ML technologies, crafting Large Language Model applications, developing cutting edge large data handling technologies and harnessing all these to address tangible business challenges.

Within this framework, our group takes the lead in building and deploying groundbreaking large data, AI and LLM technologies across diverse domains and industries, collaborating with some of the largest global enterprises.

We seek a highly technical, driven and passionate proven leader to fill the role of a group engineering manager. This person will guide a cohort of talented software engineers and their managers through a company-critical mission. This entails tackling intricate business issues, spearheading the next wave of industry-leading innovations for our industry clouds data and AI solutions, growing the group, and playing a pivotal role in a “startup” within the company.

Responsibilities

As a principal group engineering manager, you will lead and own large data and AI investments areas in the group – working closely with our product, applied science and design peers and collaborate with teams within and outside our organization. You will need to learn and work across many Microsoft platforms – from Azure and Fabric to M365 and Power Platform. You will also be responsible for a large group of software engineers and their managers - making sure your group is thriving and productive, nurturing individuals careers and cultivating Microsoft values within it.

To do that you will need to –

· Lead and manage a group of software engineers individual contributors and their managers - promoting a culture of ownership and accountability.

· Guide the group in the design, development, testing, and deployment of high-quality software.

· Ensure that projects are completed on time and meet all business and system requirements.

· Work closely across groups and disciplines to shape the solutions and make sure they provide value to our customers.

· Mentor and coach team members, assisting with their professional growth.

· Work with the peer PMs, Applied Scientist and designer to define the groups current and future investments

· Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.

· Foster a culture of agility, innovation, and customer-focus within the team.

· Comply with project plans and industry standards.

· Lead by example high level of technical excellence (including but not limited to participating in design, code, and test reviews), and act as a technical leader for the team.

Qualifications

· 6+ years of management experience

· Proving leadership capabilities

· Good communication, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.

· Solid problem-solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills.

· 10+ years of development experience in relevant technologies (C#, JS, React, cloud computing).

· Solid understanding of Cloud technologies

· B.Sc. or higher degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

· Proven knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices.

· Ability to understand unfamiliar code bases, debug client and service side applications.

· Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks completely and independently.

· Ability to bring clarity and alignment to the team.

· Knowledge of Azure is a plus.
