Product Engineering Team Leader

The Product Engineering Team Leader will manage and mentor the Product Engineering team, setting the strategic and technical direction for manufacturing excellence across our LiDAR product portfolio. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all phases of the product lifecycle—from NPI transition to end-of-life—with a focus on maximizing production efficiency, scaling global manufacturing capacity, and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Strategy

Team Management: Provide technical and disciplinary leadership for the Product Engineering team, managing workload, setting performance goals, and conducting professional development and mentorship.
Strategic Roadmap: Define the product engineering strategy and roadmap in alignment with overall company objectives, focusing on scaling production capacity and implementing advanced manufacturing techniques (e.g., automation, Industry 4.0).
Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the primary interface between Engineering (R&D, Design, Test), Production, Quality, and Supply Chain, ensuring seamless information flow and alignment on product launch schedules, process changes, and technical resolutions.

Manufacturing Operations Oversight

Yield Ownership: Maintain ultimate accountability for all production yield, cost, and quality metrics across all product lines. Drive the execution of high-impact projects for process optimization and scrap reduction.
High-Volume Scale-Up: Oversee the successful transfer of new LiDAR products from pilot to high-volume manufacturing (HVM). Ensure all production processes, equipment, and contract manufacturers (CMs) are qualified for scale.
Technical Problem Solving: Direct and prioritize the team's response to line-down issues, complex failure analysis, and persistent production bottlenecks, ensuring fast, effective, and permanent corrective actions are implemented.
Data Infrastructure: Oversee the development and maintenance of robust manufacturing data infrastructure (MES, test data analytics) to enable real-time monitoring and data-driven process control.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant engineering experience. Master’s degree preferred.
8+ years of total engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a technical leadership or management role within a high-volume manufacturing environment. Direct experience with LiDAR, complex optical, or semiconductor products is essential.

Leadership & Management Skills:

Proven ability to build, lead, and mentor a high-performing technical team.
Exceptional project management skills, including managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects across global locations.
Ability to present ideas clearly.

Technical Expertise:

Deep understanding of New Product Introduction (NPI) processes and product lifecycle management.
Expertise in statistical methods, process control (SPC), and quality tools (e.g., Six Sigma, DOE).
Familiarity with contract manufacturing operations and vendor management.

Preferred Skills:

Experience managing engineering teams across different geographical sites.
Fluency in modern statistical tools (e.g., JMP, Python) for data analysis and automation.
