We deliver results that exceed expectations and we win together!Your Role:Directs the activities of a software applications development function, including the design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging for software application enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related computer programs. This position oversees the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of computer programs for commercial applications. In addition, this position oversees the development of software and software tools used for design, infrastructure, and platforms. Analyzes and investigates applications engineering tasks and prepares design specifications, analysis, and recommendations. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel ensuring the efficient operation of the function. Interacts with product management, project managers, marketing, sales, and users to define application requirements and/or necessary modifications.Your Opportunity:Excellent communicatorBuild & maintain high performing teamsManage execution (does not micro-manage execution)Train & mentor direct reportsKeep team accountable & be accountable for the team and all its membersDefend & shape the cultureHave a measurable positive impact that affects the whole companyScope of responsibilities that may go beyond EngineeringMay perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to timeWhat You'll Need:B.S. degree in Computer Science or a directly related field, or equivalent work experience; M.S. preferred12 + years software engineering experience. 3+ years previous experience as an Director of Engineering with measurable successSuperb leadership skills and the ability to harness the team to produce the highest quality deliverables with the greatest velocityEmphasis of sharing and communicating context over applying controlAbility to attract and hire great senior engineers and managers, build high-performing teams, lead and mentor them, and make them successfulKnowledge of software development process and lean methodologies, and ability to facilitate true agility and continuous improvementAn ability to work with a remote team and lead them to sustainable long-term successEnsure effective communication/coordination within department and across all departments within company in delivering projectsProvide technical strategy, direction and standards and to ensure they are adhered toResponsible for all HR related issues (reviews, vacation, staffing, .etc) for the engineering groupPerforms other related duties as assigned (Write Blog posts, lead internal culture initiatives, etc)Track record of success in delivering quality products from concept to launchAbility to architect, perform design/code reviews on distributed platformsBusiness development orientation, and robust interpersonal communications skills essentialAbility to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of timeSome travel may be requiredAnd Ideally:Ensure all projects meet/exceed their budgeted, cost, quality and delivery TargetsThe director will provide direct input and management of IT tools to track projects, bug fixes, release dates, documentation changes and feature requestsManages Tenable certification efforts such as Common Criteria, FDCC certification and other "certification" standards that may be required of TenableDeep understanding of the scalable architectures essential to delivering network security products#LI-VA1#LI-HybridWe're committed to promoting Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) at Tenable - through all equal employment opportunity laws and regulations at the international, federal, state and local levels.
