Linux Embedded Engineer

A leading defense company in the Yehud area is looking for an experienced Linux Embedded Engineer to join its technology team.

Responsibilities

• Develop software for Embedded and Real-Time systems.
• Develop Low-Level software and BSPs for Microcontroller- and Microprocessor-based platforms.
• Work in Embedded Linux environments, including Kernel, Device Drivers, and User Space – an advantage.
• Customize, configure, and build Linux for Embedded systems, with an emphasis on Yocto – an advantage.
• Develop in C/C++ across Bare-Metal, RTOS, and Linux environments.
• Develop and integrate hardware drivers and interfaces, including SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, CAN, and GPIO.
• Perform Board Bring-Up, HW/SW integration, and debugging of complex system-level issues.
• Work with Bootloaders, such as U-Boot, and Embedded system boot processes – an advantage.
• Use debugging tools such as JTAG, Logic Analyzers, and Oscilloscopes.
• Work with Git and CI/CD processes.
• Write Design documents, requirements, test documentation, and engineering documentation.
• Collaborate closely with Hardware, FPGA, System, Integration, and Test teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5+ years of experience in Embedded software development.
• Strong hands-on experience with C/C++ development.
• Experience working with RTOS and/or Real-Time systems.
• Practical experience in Embedded Linux environments.
• Experience developing or customizing BSPs and Device Drivers.
• Strong understanding of processor architecture, interrupts, DMA, memory mapping, and hardware communication interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with HW/SW integration and hardware/software debugging.

Significant Advantages

• Experience with Yocto / BitBake.
• Experience with Linux Kernel development and Kernel Driver development.
• Experience with ARM / SoC / FPGA-SoC platforms.
• Experience with FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or RT-Linux.
• Experience with Secure Boot, Trusted Execution, TPM, or Embedded system security.
• Experience with multi-core systems and inter-processor communication (IPC) solutions.
• Familiarity with Static Analysis tools such as Coverity.
• Experience developing complex, multidisciplinary Embedded systems with demanding Real-Time requirements.
