Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

At Doona, we develop innovative products that redefine everyday life for parents and children around the world. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team in Herzliya.

The role combines mechanical and structural design, mechanism development, and safety engineering, with responsibility throughout the product development process, from initial concepts through detailed design, prototyping, testing, tooling, and production.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, complex assemblies, and mechanisms, including locking, folding, and adjustment systems.
• Lead mechanical design activities from initial concept through detailed engineering, validation, and production.
• Develop 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, tolerance analyses, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Design plastic and metal components, considering material selection, manufacturing processes, product performance, safety, and cost.
• Develop prototypes, evaluate test results, identify technical challenges, and implement engineering improvements.
• Collaborate closely with Industrial Design, Engineering, and Product teams throughout the development process.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support tooling development and the transition to mass production.
• Take ownership of engineering deliverables, identify technical risks, and ensure progress according to project milestones and timelines.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing products and mechanical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proven experience in designing and developing mechanical mechanisms and complex assemblies.
• Strong experience in plastic part design, particularly injection-molded components, and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software and experience creating detailed engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, structural behavior, dynamic loads, and mechanical failure mechanisms.
• Experience taking mechanical products from development through tooling and production.
• Strong analytical thinking, creativity, and independent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and manage engineering tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to meet challenging project timelines.
• Good technical English, both written and spoken.
