Mechanical R&D Design Engineer – Precision Mechanisms

An established medical device company, with several years of intensive R&D and a mature, well-advanced product design, is seeking an outstanding Mechanical R&D Design Engineer to join its development team.

The company has developed a sophisticated, multidisciplinary product with a high level of design maturity and is progressing toward manufacturing readiness.

We are looking for a highly capable, energetic, and hands-on engineer with strong expertise in precision mechanics, excellent engineering fundamentals, and a passion for solving complex mechanical challenges.

The role focuses on detailed mechanical design, design optimization, hands-on engineering, and advancing component and assembly designs toward mass production through DFMA activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision mechanical components and assemblies involving plastics, metals, springs, and miniature mechanisms.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and production-ready 2D drawings, including GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Design for low-volume manufacturing technologies, including CNC machining and laser cutting.
• Design for mass-production technologies, including plastic injection molding and metal stamping.
• Lead technical Design Reviews (DR), evaluate design alternatives, and implement improvements.
• Perform hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation of mechanical components and assemblies.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), identify design weaknesses, develop solutions, and implement engineering improvements.
• Work closely with the Mechanical Team Leader on DFMA activities, manufacturing feasibility, supplier technical feedback, and production readiness.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Technion, Ben-Gurion University, or Tel Aviv University – Mandatory.
• Proven experience in mechanical design, particularly precision components and mechanisms.
• Excellent SolidWorks proficiency, including 3D modeling and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Proven experience participating in DFMA processes.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, manufacturing technologies, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
• Practical experience designing plastic and metal components for manufacturing.
• Strong analytical capabilities, engineering creativity, and independent problem-solving skills.
• High energy, fast execution, attention to detail, and strong personal ownership.
• A genuine hands-on approach, with the ability and willingness to assemble, test, troubleshoot, and improve mechanical designs.

Advantages

This is an individual contributor role, focused entirely on engineering, with no management or team leadership responsibilities.
