ADABAS Database Administrator (DBA)

Job Description:

• Managing, maintaining, and improving the performance of a central database in a critical production environment and supporting enterprise core systems.
• Responsibility for ADABAS- and NATURAL-based systems in a Linux environment, alongside responsibility for availability, stability, and performance.
• Close collaboration with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and Operations teams to implement changes and improvements.
• Ongoing management and operation of ADABAS databases in a critical production environment under Linux.
• Performance monitoring, identifying bottlenecks, and continuously improving performance.
• Handling complex incidents – troubleshooting, analyzing them, and providing effective real-time solutions.
• Planning and performing backups, restores, and DR processes.
• Ongoing work with NATURAL-based systems, including supporting development teams.
• Optimization of queries, data structures, and processes to improve response times.
• Leading upgrades, preventive maintenance, and implementation of Best Practices.
• Writing technical documentation and procedures and transferring knowledge to other teams.

Job Requirements:

• At least 10 years of experience as a Database Administrator in critical production environments.
• Experience working with ADABAS – management, performance, maintenance, and recovery.
• In-depth familiarity with the NATURAL environment and working with NATURAL-based systems.
• Experience analyzing complex incidents and managing events in critical environments.
• Deep understanding of information systems architecture and DB performance.
• Experience working in a Linux environment – RHEL preferred.
• Experience working with additional databases (Oracle / DB2) – an advantage.
• Experience working with advanced monitoring and control tools – an advantage.
• Knowledge of scripting (Shell / Python) for automation purposes – an advantage.
• Experience in financial/insurance organizations or critical core systems – an advantage.
• Familiarity with DevOps processes and their integration into the DB domain – an advantage.
• Experience working in container environments and OpenShift – an advantage.
