About the Role

Amphenol TCS is building a new team to deliver high-speed optical and interconnect products at scale. As a Mechanical Team Leader, you will build and lead the mechanical engineering team in Israel and own the mechanical design of our products from concept through validation and handoff to manufacturing.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of mechanical engineers: plan and allocate work, run design reviews and give regular feedback.
• Own the mechanical architecture of our electro-optical designs (CPO, NPO and transceivers) and our connector and interconnect assemblies, including compression and contact-force design, alignment, tolerance stack-ups, and thermal and structural considerations.
• Drive designs from concept through prototype, validation and industrialization, working with vendors and manufacturing sites in Israel and the US.
• Define mechanical test plans and work with the verification team on mechanical, thermal and durability testing.
• Collaborate closely with hardware, electrical, verification and program management to meet performance, schedule and cost targets.
• Manage 3D models, GD&T drawings, BOMs and engineering changes in line with company PLM and quality processes, and support technical discussions with customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree an advantage.
• 8+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience, including 2+ years leading a team or serving as a technical lead.

Required Skills

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience in precision mechanical design, with deep knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Hands-on experience in the mechanical design of electro-optical products, including optical alignment, fiber/optical interfaces and thermal management of optical engines.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and in PLM systems.
• Proven experience taking products from prototype to volume production, including DFM/DFA and working with suppliers and tooling.
• Experience with precision machined, stamped and/or molded parts and the materials used for them.
• Experience running mechanical validation and testing, and conducting root-cause analysis of failures.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams alongside electrical, firmware and verification engineers.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Hebrew, with comfort working with US-based teams and customers.
• Familiarity with AI tools for engineering productivity.

• Familiarity with reliability and environmental test standards relevant to data-center hardware (e.g., Telcordia, EIA/IEC).
