Finance Director | Sofia, Bulgaria | Relocation Required

Reporting to the CFO

I’m currently recruiting for a Finance Director for a B2B sportsbook product company operating across multiple countries and legal entities.

The business operates in a complex international environment spanning several jurisdictions, currencies, tax regimes and reporting calendars.

This is a hands-on Finance leadership role, responsible for the day-to-day running of the finance function and leading the team that delivers it.

The ideal candidate could be an experienced Finance Director / Head of Finance, or a strong Chief Accountant ready to step into a broader Finance leadership position.

🔹 What you’ll own:

• Lead, structure and develop the finance team across locations

• Own month-end and year-end close across all entities

• Manage consolidation, intercompany reconciliation and eliminations

• Oversee statutory reporting and coordinate external auditors and local accounting providers

• Manage corporate tax, VAT, transfer pricing, withholding tax and tax advisors

• Own treasury, cash flow forecasting, multi-currency banking, FX exposure and working capital

• Deliver monthly management accounts, variance analysis and reporting for the CFO and executive team

• Lead the annual budgeting cycle and rolling forecasts

• Oversee AR & AP, including client invoicing, collections and supplier payments

• Own finance policies, controls and process improvements

• Partner with Legal, HR and Commercial on entity structure, contracts, payroll inputs and commercial deal modelling

• Act as the company’s finance point of contact with relevant regulatory authorities

🔹 What they’re looking for:

• Substantial hands-on accounting experience in a multi-entity, multi-country group

• Full-cycle experience across close, consolidation, statutory reporting, tax, treasury, AR/AP and management reporting

• Experience in a B2B business, including exposure to contracted clients, revenue-share, licence/integration fees or milestone billing

• Proven experience managing and developing a finance team

• Comfortable working in an environment where structure and processes are still being built

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and business skills

• Professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent practical experience

• Fluent English, written and spoken

• Willing and able to relocate to Sofia and work full-time from the office

🔹 Strong advantage:

• Experience in iGaming or sportsbook, particularly on the supplier / B2B side

• Experience implementing or upgrading an ERP / accounting system

• Experience supporting audit, due diligence or a transaction process

• Experience with finance process automation

This is a great opportunity for a strong Chief Accountant / Controller who wants to move from a primarily accounting-focused position into a broader Finance Director role, as well as for an experienced Finance leader looking for full ownership of a multi-entity international finance operation.
