The Role

• Build and maintain 15+ microservices and several React front-ends, working across the full stack to keep everything running fast, fault-tolerant, and reliable
• Play a key role in the migration from legacy systems to a modern microservices architecture
• Work closely with security and compliance to build fintech-grade software from the ground up

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a growing microservices ecosystem and React front-ends that work together seamlessly
• Help keep critical financial calls under one second and uptime at 99.9%, even on the busiest mornings
• Build with PCI-DSS, GDPR, and FCA requirements in mind, using encryption and audit logs in close partnership with security and compliance
• Raise code quality through pragmatic code reviews, thoughtful pairing, and knowledge sharing across the team
• Contribute to the journey from legacy systems to a microservices architecture — no data (or developer) left behind
• Translate technical detail into plain English for product, compliance, and execs
• Integrate with partner-critical APIs without breaking things for anyone downstream

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years in software engineering, with strong experience in high-scale microservices
• Experience delivering complex changes in fast-moving environments
• Expert in TypeScript/Node.js, React, REST API design, Docker, and cloud CI/CD (AWS or GCP)
• Advanced SQL skills on high-volume MySQL clusters
• Fintech or payments background (PCI-DSS, FCA, GDPR)
• Strong communicator, able to turn complex architecture into something everyone can follow
• Expert in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) — comfortable with compute, storage, and managed services
• Advanced proficiency in Kubernetes (K8s) — container orchestration, deployments, and cluster management
• Proficient in Go (Golang) for building performant backend services
