Electro-Optics Team Leader | Leading Defense Company | Caesarea Area, Israel

A leading defense technology company is looking for an experienced Electro-Optics Team Leader to lead the development of advanced electro-optical systems and technologies.

This is a key leadership position combining hands-on technical expertise with team management, system design, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Electro-Optics Engineers.
• Define technical requirements and select critical electro-optical components.
• Lead the design, integration, verification, and validation of electro-optical subsystems.
• Drive engineering solutions for complex technical challenges.
• Define and execute test plans, characterization, and validation activities.
• Manage technical relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Evaluate new technologies and support technology roadmap activities.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including Systems, Mechanical, Electronics, Software and Manufacturing Engineering.
• Report project progress, technical risks, and milestones to R&D management.

Requirements

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electro-Optics Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing electro-optical systems or components.
• 2+ years of experience supporting optical design activities with subcontractors or suppliers.
• Previous engineering team leadership experience – significant advantage.
• Strong knowledge in one or more of the following:
• Lasers
• Day/Night Optical Systems
• Thermal Imaging
• Optical Displays
• Electro-Optical Sensors
• Experience working with international suppliers.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Fluent English.
• Willingness to travel internationally when required.
