Data Analytics Team Lead – Public Transportation

KPMG Israel is seeking a Data Analytics Team Lead to manage and deliver data analytics projects in the public transportation sector. This role combines hands-on analytical work with team leadership, managing and mentoring a team of analysts while delivering advanced analytics that generate meaningful business, operational, and strategic insights - including spatial based insights that are central to transportation planning and operations.

The ideal candidate is both a strong individual contributor and an effective people leader, with deep analytical and technical expertise, including geospatial/GIS analysis, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 4 data analysts, ensuring high-quality delivery and supporting professional growth, perform hands-on data analysis and guide the team in solving complex analytical problems
• Delivering business, operational, and strategic insights derived from data analysis, including geospatial based analysis
• Own end-to-end analytical workflows — from data ingestion and modeling to visualization, mapping, and client delivery
• Serve as a trusted partner to the client, building strong working relationships, understanding evolving business needs, and translating them into analytical solutions.
• Support the professional growth of team members through coaching, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and analytical guidance.
• Develop analytical solutions using Python, SQL, Excel, Power BI, and GIS/mapping tools
• Collaborate with business and technical clients across the organization
• Drive adoption of AI-powered analytics, automation, and scalable data solutions
  
  

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Python and SQL
• 2+ years of experience managing or leading a team
• Proven ability to work effectively in multi-stakeholder, cross-functional environments
• Strong analytical thinking, ownership mindset, and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong proficiency in Power BI, including dashboard development, data modeling, and visualization — required
  
  

• Demonstrated experience with GIS, geospatial data, and mapping/visualization tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar)
• Strong data storytelling skills and the ability to influence decision-making through data
• Experience with public transportation, transit, or mobility data
• Experience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and Git / version control
