Lenovo Digital Trust Lab seeks a hands-on and innovative Software Engineer to join our cutting-edge research team. This role will directly support our Hybrid AI initiative as well as our Device, Infrastructure, and Services security programs, focusing on advancing security, privacy, and trust through innovative research and applied AI.

You will work across disciplines and play a key role in building the next-generation AI Security platform using effective, AI-driven defenses, translating theoretical ideas into practical, real-world impact.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain a robust AI Security Platform to protect AI/ML assets, data, and pipelines.
• Build agent communication services (REST/gRPC/WebSockets) for telemetry ingestion, policy distribution, health/status, remote actions, and versioning.
• Develop a secure, configurable policy engine supporting per-tenant and per-device enforcement.
• Ensure high-scale, high-throughput operation through efficient data models and caching strategies.
• Build user, roles, and tenant management (RBAC), licensing and entitlements, audit logging, and SSO/IdP integrations.
• Establish secure-by-design patterns: threat modeling, least privilege, secrets management, and encrypted data in transit and at rest.
• Create developer productivity foundations: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit/integration/e2e), feature flags, and operational runbooks.
  
  

• BSc in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of professional experience as a backend engineer delivering production-grade cloud applications end to end.
• Hands-on frontend and backend development (modern SPA framework + TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Go, or Java) building microservices and REST/gRPC APIs.
• Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL datastores, messaging/streaming systems (e.g., Kafka, Event Hubs), and observability tooling (metrics, logs, tracing).
• Solid understanding of networking and security fundamentals: HTTP, TLS, OAuth/OIDC, API keys, and secrets management.
• Strong English communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced research environment.
  
  

• Prior experience building a security product (SOC platform, EDR/EPP backend, SIEM, SOAR, DLP, or similar).
• Knowledge of data governance and privacy controls, including redaction/pseudonymization and data retention policies.
• Strong cloud background (Azure, AWS, or GCP), containers (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes or equivalent).
