Application Team Leader - SPECTRA Team

Airis Labs is building a next-gen video intelligence platform using cutting-edge AI. We are a startup founded by people who have built startups before, backed by great investors, and focused on building things that actually get used.

We are looking for an Application Team Leader to lead the SPECTRA team and own our core web application. This role is for someone who loves being hands-on, enjoys building stuff and is not afraid to both write code and make decisions.

What You’ll Do

• Lead a small, strong team of Full Stack Engineers.
• Own the architecture and direction of our main web application.
• Spend about half your time writing code, reviewing PRs, and solving real problems (yes, real code).
• Drive features end to end, from “this is a good idea” to “this is live in production.”
• Hire, build, and mentor the team as we grow.
• Work closely with senior engineers, AI researchers and product managers on cross-company initiatives.
• Plan quarterly work without pretending the plan will never change.
• Integrate AI features into the product and actually understand how they work, not just copy prompts.

Must Have

• Startup experience (you know what “things change” really means).
• Experience joining a new company as a team leader.
• Proven experience building, hiring, and mentoring a team.
• Very hands-on. You like code. You write code. A lot.
• 5+ years building modern web apps and 3+ years leading engineers.
• Strong product ownership mindset.
• Experience with React, Redux, and Python.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools and able to discuss their tradeoffs and limitations.
• Experience working with on-prem infrastructure.
• Clear communicator who works well with product, AI, and engineering.

Nice to Have

• Vision beyond the next sprint.
• Ability to push ideas and initiatives across the company.
• Good stories from previous companies that include impact, not just titles.
• Experience with modern frontend tooling like React Query, Tailwind, design systems, or AG Grid.
• Background in analytics, intelligence, or similar domains.
