CAD Emulation Engineer

Summary

As an Emulation CAD Engineer in Apple's HW Technology organization, you'll develop and maintain advanced emulation environments critical for next-generation SoC verification. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to create robust emulation platforms that enable efficient chip verification and virtual prototype solutions for faster product development.

Description

In this role, you'll be responsible for the complete lifecycle of emulation CAD systems that are part of A wide range of Apple's silicon products. You'll develop, maintain, and enhance existing emulation environments while ensuring they can handle long simulation workloads required by our teams.

Your key responsibilities will include developing the flows, debugging complex tools and flow issues while providing technical support to emulation customers across multiple teams in Apple, including Design, Digital Verification, Power, Silicon Validation, Performance, and Software. You'll serve as a technical liaison with leading emulation vendors to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve platform issues.

A significant part of your work will involve promoting and supporting virtual prototype solutions that accelerate chip development processes.

The position demands strong debugging skills, customer-focused problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines. You'll play a crucial role in enabling the advanced verification capabilities that ensure Apple's chips meet the high-performance and power efficiency standards our products are known for.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in developing and maintaining the emulation flows and infrastructure
• Facilitate customer adoption and deployment of the infrastructure
• Innovate solutions to improve the utilization of emulators and the infrastructure as a whole
• Drive customers to success while optimizing the flows and their usage
  
  

• 5+ years of experience in software development and emulation experience
• Experience in Python and Perl is required
• Strong software development background.
• Must be comfortable with co-developing an existing system.
• Prototype Experience - Familiarity with prototyping brings up and debug flows on platforms such as Zebu EP1, Protium, or others. Familiarity with Xilinx and Altera FPGAs, compile, debug, and runtime.
• Emulation experience on any available platforms, Palladium, Veloce, or Zebu Server, including compilation, debug
• Knowledge about the flow from RTL to FPGA / Emulation model is a must
• Experience in Verilog and/or System Verilog is a plus
• Machine Learning and GenAI experience is a plus
• Emulation performance and throughput tuning are a plus
• Must have good communication skills; previous customer support is a plus
