Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Coverdolly is an early-stage agri-robotics company building breakthrough automation for greenhouse farming. We are hiring our first senior R&D hire - a hands-on Mechanical Engineer who will lead the mechanical design and development of our system. This role is the core technical function in the company today, with clear growth into Head of R&D as we raise funding.

The role will start remote, with regular on-site work at subcontractor facilities in Sderot/Ofakim (Western Negev) and flexibility to move between sites as needed.

You will work closely with the founders, owning the full product development cycle: from concept, design, and prototyping to manufacturing, assembly, and field testing. This is a rare opportunity to shape a product from the ground up and join the founding team of a fast-moving startup.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development cycle from concept to validation.
• Own CAD design (SolidWorks / Fusion360 / Onshape), detailed drawings, and assembly instructions.
• Build, test, and iterate prototypes, ensuring functionality and durability.
• Apply FEA and simulation tools to validate performance.
• Define and run test protocols; document findings in technical reports.
• Manage suppliers and subcontractors for quality, cost, and delivery.
• Support system integration with robotics, motors, and actuation units.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and prototype development.
• Hands-on CAD expertise (Onshape / Fusion360 a plus).
• Experience in robotics, motion systems, and heavy-duty outdoor equipment.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (CNC, welding, 3D printing, injection molding).
• Exposure to electrical systems (AC/DC, batteries, control).
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on mindset.
• Ability to work independently in a startup or small-team environment.
