Engineering Manager

A leading U.S. company operates one of the largest job marketplaces. The platform handles massive scale millions of job postings and tens of millions of users and leverages AI to create smart matches between job seekers and employers, all while fostering a culture focused on values and well-being.

Based in Tel Aviv (near the train line), the company operates a hybrid model with two work-from-home days per week and has a major development center. The organization employs approximately 1,200 people, including around 300 in R&D (100 in Israel).

The role:

• Manage a flat team of 7 engineers in the Recommendation domain, including Backend, Data Science, and ML
• Engineering Manager level role (above Team Lead, not hiring Team Leads)
• Report directly to the VP leading the Israeli site
• Lead an experienced team, focusing on leadership maturity, system understanding, and cross-team collaboration
• Minimal hands-on design work; strong emphasis on technical and managerial leadership
• Tech stack: Java, Scala, Big Data; ML components in Python

Requirements:

• Senior Engineering Manager level – Recommendation domain
• 4 years of management experience (must be senior but not Group Manager level)
• 10 years of total industry experience
• Strong hands-on expertise in ML from an engineering perspective (mandatory)
• Proven ability to bridge Data teams and ML teams
• Proficient in Python, Java, and Scala
