Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, development, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems and components. This role applies core engineering principles to solve technical challenges, ensuring safety, reliability, manufacturability, and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, industrial design, quality, and manufacturing to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development
- Create 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and specifications for mechanical components, assemblies, and enclosures.
- Develop prototypes and conduct design iterations based on test results and stakeholder feedback.
- Ensure designs meet functional, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Analysis & Testing
- Plan and execute mechanical validation tests (fatigue, vibration, thermal, and environmental).
- Perform tolerance, structural, and material analyses to support design decisions.
- Investigate and troubleshoot design or production issues; implement corrective actions.
Project Execution
- Manage design documentation, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Collaborate with suppliers on materials, fabrication methods, and quality standards.
- Support the full product lifecycle, from concept through manufacturing, testing, and field use.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work effectively with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, software, regulatory, manufacturing).
- Present design findings, results, and recommendations in reports, reviews, and meetings.
- Provide technical input during design reviews, risk assessments, and regulatory submissions.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in mechanical design and development.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Hands-on experience with plastics design, enclosure/housing development, and tolerance analysis.
- Strong knowledge of materials science, mechanics, thermodynamics, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and effectively within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of DFMA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly) principles.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and product validation.
