R&D Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an R&D Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical engineering team and play a key role in developing ZutaCore's next-generation liquid cooling solutions for AI and high-performance computing.

You will be involved throughout the product development lifecycle — from mechanical concepts and detailed design through prototyping, testing, integration, and production.

The role combines mechanical design, hands-on engineering, and system-level problem solving, working closely with engineers across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop multidisciplinary systems, components, and assemblies from concept through prototyping, testing, and production.
• Translate system-level requirements into robust, practical, and manufacturable mechanical solutions.
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Collaborate closely with Systems Engineering, V&V, Software, Product, and other cross-functional teams throughout the development process.
• Participate hands-on in prototyping, assembly, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Work closely with manufacturing partners and suppliers to drive designs toward production and ensure manufacturability.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles and consider tolerances, materials, manufacturing processes, reliability, cost, and serviceability in design decisions.
• Support engineering verification and validation activities and translate test results into design improvements.
• Perform root-cause analysis of mechanical issues and drive effective corrective actions.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and design revisions.
• Take ownership of assigned mechanical designs and drive them to successful completion.
• Bring a hands-on, problem-solving mindset to challenging engineering problems and help turn concepts into working products.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development within an R&D environment.
• Strong experience with 3D CAD; SolidWorks and PDM systems.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, tolerances, and engineering fundamentals.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing.
• Proven experience taking mechanical designs through concept, prototyping, testing, and production.
• Strong system-level thinking and ability to translate requirements into practical mechanical solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
• Good understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer - an advantage.
• Experience with thermal management, liquid cooling, fluid-handling systems - a strong advantage.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional-level English, both written and verbal.
• Self-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced R&D environment.
