Why This Role Matters

The AI Center of Excellence (AI CoE) partners with product and business units across Vonage to design, build, and operationalize AI capabilities. We provide reference architectures, shared services, and best practices; drive innovation through proofs-of-concept; and ensure responsible, secure, and cost-effective AI at scale.

A hands-on AI Architect who can align business goals with pragmatic, production-ready AI solutions. You’ll set technical direction, build reusable patterns, and help teams ship reliable, safe, and measurable AI features.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Lead AI solution architecture for BU initiatives: choose patterns (API vs fine-tune vs RAG/agents), data flows, guardrails, and SLOs.
• Spend ~50–60% hands-on: reference implementations, retrieval pipelines, prompt/agent libraries, evaluation harnesses, sample apps.
• Define the target-state AI platform and drive adoption via ADRs, playbooks, templates, and reviews (CoE/architecture board).
• Partner with Security, Privacy, Data, and Legal on responsible-AI controls (PII handling/redaction, prompt-injection defenses, abuse filtering).
• Operationalize AI: CI/CD for prompts/agents/tools, feature flags, canary/rollback, observability, incident playbooks.
• Establish measurement: offline/online evals, test sets, A/Bs, HITL workflows, cost/latency/quality dashboards.
• Coach and unblock global teams; review designs/code; champion modern AI patterns (tool use, agentic flows, streaming, memory).
  
  

What you'll bring

Required

• BSc in CS or related (MSc a plus).
• 10+ years building distributed systems (Node.js, Python, Go, or Java); 5+ years applied AI/ML (LLMs or conversational AI).
• Depth in LLM/RAG architectures (embeddings, retrieval, chunking, routing, tool-calling/agents, prompt engineering).
• Cloud: AWS (e.g., Bedrock, EKS/ECS/Lambda, S3) and/or GCP Vertex AI; IaC (Terraform).
• Data & messaging: Kafka, relational & NoSQL, caching.
• Containers/Kubernetes; microservices; REST/gRPC/GraphQL; secure API design.
• Excellent communication; influence without authority across a matrix org.
• Familiarity with governance frameworks and secure data use (e.g., alignment with NIST AI RMF / ISO-style controls).

• Vector search (Pinecone, OpenSearch/Elastic, pgvector); feature stores.
• Frameworks: LangChain, LlamaIndex, DSPy; PyTorch/TensorFlow for glue work.
• QA & eval: RAGAS, DeepEval, synthetic data, red-teaming.
• Realtime/voice (SIP/WebRTC), streaming inference, low-latency design.
