Overview

Moneyboat is on the lookout for a creative, innovative, and experienced User Experience Specialist to join its Product team.

We’re on an exciting journey, and are looking for someone who’s passionate about helping us to grow and develop our offering to UK consumers who are looking for simple, fast, and trustworthy financial products that help to give them confidence and get the most from life.

As a UX Specialist, you'll be responsible for identifying and designing ways to optimise our users’ journeys at every stage of their product experience. You will work closely with product managers, developers, and other teams to design seamless and unique digital experiences for users and ensure that our touchpoints are intuitive, accessible, and responsive. Your role will involve research, wireframing, prototyping, and testing to deliver a user experience that meets the needs of a diverse and technologically-savvy audience.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gather insights into customer behaviour, pain points, and needs
• Champion user-centric design principles to continually improve the customer journey, enhance engagement and understanding, and drive conversion rates in a way that’s responsible and aligned with our brand
• Help with the development of personas and user journey maps to create a deep understanding of our target audience.
• Design wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to communicate ideas and solutions effectively to cross-functional teams
• Collaborate with product, development, and other business teams to ensure that UX designs are implemented accurately and efficiently, and contribute to successful product releases
• Stay up to date with UX trends, tools, and best practices, as well as current and proposed regulations in our industry to ensure that our products adhere to all relevant regulations, and are at the forefront of delivering good outcomes to customers
• Use research, feedback, and data from analytics tools to understand user behaviour and identify ways to improve user experience, enhance engagement and conversion rates, and proactively identify risks or concerns
• Perform usability testing and A/B testing to evaluate the effectiveness of design changes and make data-driven decisions for improvements.

Your skills & experience

Essential

• Proven experience (at least three years) working as a UX Designer, UX Specialist, or similar role, preferably in financial services or another industry with a strong regulatory framework
• Strong portfolio showcasing your UX design process and problem-solving skills, and the impact these have had on the projects you’ve worked on
• A demonstrable track record of successfully managing multiple tasks and prioritising work based on discussions with stakeholders (but you’ll also be happy to say when deadlines are unrealistic or too tight to deliver great-quality work)
• Comfortable working with, and building on, design guidelines to ensure that touchpoints are aligned with a brand’s identity and bring it to life in a creative and memorable way
• Proficiency in UX design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar
• Experience with user research methods, usability testing, and A/B testing
• Familiarity with basic HTML, CSS, and front-end development concepts
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills that allow you to work effectively and engage with stakeholders from all across our business
• You’ll be comfortable working with our Risk & Compliance team to explain design decisions, understand any regulatory concerns, and ensure that touch points are delivered in a way that mitigates risk of harm to consumers
• Experience working in a distributed global team

Desired

• You’ll have some familiarity and/or experience with products in a regulated sector, preferably in the UK financial services sector, or consumer finance. Alternatively, you’ll be comfortable with quickly gaining a solid understanding of regulatory requirements
• A basic understanding of software development processes and technologies is preferred, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical teams
