We are seeking a mathematically driven Algorithms Engineer to join our Algorithms group, focusing on developing next-generation models and scanning-based algorithms. This role will directly contribute to improving our customers’ yield and value from rough diamonds by building precision algorithms with micron-level resolution.

This position is ideal for a highly analytical professional with a deep mathematical background (PhD preferred) who thrives on solving real-world geometric, optimization, and imaging challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop novel algorithms for diamond shape modeling, geometric fitting, and volume optimization based on 3D scanning data at micron-level resolution.
  • Translate high-resolution diamond scan data into actionable insights that maximize value and yield for customers.
  • Design mathematical and computational models that integrate with existing Sarine scanning platforms and planning software.
  • Analyze large datasets to validate, benchmark, and refine algorithmic accuracy and robustness.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hardware, system, software, and product to integrate algorithms into production environments.
  • Innovate and contribute to Sarine’s IP portfolio by identifying and developing patentable ideas in scanning and modeling.
  • Stay up to date with academic and industry advancements in applied mathematics, geometric modeling, and 3D computer vision.

Requirements:

  • PhD (or MSc with strong experience) in Applied Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science.
  • Specialization in geometry, optimization, or imaging is a strong advantage.
  • 5+ years of experience in algorithm development, with a focus on geometric modeling, image analysis, or spatial data processing.
  • Proficient in numerical methods, optimization algorithms, and 3D spatial computations.
  • Hands-on experience with scientific programming languages, particularly Python and C++.
  • Experience working with high-resolution scanning systems, mesh processing, or point cloud data – a plus.
  • Proven familiarity with tools such as MATLAB, OpenCV, or PCL.
  • Strong analytical mindset, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills in English.
