Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and collaborating closely with the Chief Science Officer (CSO) and the VP of Product, this role is suited for a highly experienced VP of R&D who has extensive expertise in low-SNR Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and embedded systems development—particularly in integrating hardware and software within real-time environments. While direct experience with Terahertz (THz) technology is advantageous, we recognize that any gaps can be bridged through team collaboration and the collective expertise within our company.

This hands-on, project-focused leadership position involves:

Active participation in R&D tasks (e.g., DSP algorithm creation, firmware development, hardware-software integration).
High-level technology strategy and execution across multiple subsidiaries.
End-to-end project leadership from ideation through commercialization.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-On R&D and Technology Development
Allocate 30–40% of your time to hands-on technical work.
Drive the design, development, and optimization of DSP algorithms focused on noise reduction, signal detection, and feature extraction in low-SNR environments.
Architect and develop embedded systems, including firmware, real-time software, and hardware-software integration.
Maintain a deep knowledge of evolving microcontrollers, FPGAs, embedded OS, and advanced signal processing techniques.
R&D Project & Process Management
Oversee end-to-end project lifecycles (SRR, PDR, CDR), ensuring rigorous planning and execution.
Implement structured workflows for hardware, software, and firmware development.
Manage budgets, schedules, and deliverables, aligning them with corporate objectives.
Leadership of Subsidiary R&D Teams
Offer technical direction and strategic oversight for teams of ~10+ engineers.
Promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing among cross-functional R&D groups.
Balance your hands-on engineering role with mentoring, coaching, and guiding team members.
Embedded Systems & Software Development
Develop real-time embedded software solutions that seamlessly integrate with DSP requirements.
Design low-power, high-efficiency embedded systems based on microcontrollers, FPGAs, or ASICs.
Use C, C++, Python, MATLAB, or similar toolchains for algorithm prototyping, testing, and refinement.
Hardware-Software Integration & Optimization
Collaborate with hardware engineers to optimize PCB design, sensor integration, and overall system architecture.
Define and execute test and validation strategies, ensuring robust real-time performance and reliability.
Iterate on system designs to meet performance, cost, and regulatory requirements.
Quality, Compliance, and Innovation
Oversee e-QMS processes and ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO 13485).
Encourage a culture of innovation—including technical publications and patent filings.
Represent the company at industry events and conferences, contributing to our thought leadership.

Key Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s or master’s in Electronic Engineering (preferable), Computer Science, Physics, or a closely related field.
DSP Expertise: Demonstrated track record in low-SNR DSP algorithm development, noise reduction, and signal enhancement strategies.
Embedded Systems (Vast Knowledge + Some Hands-On):
Extensive theoretical understanding of embedded architectures (microcontrollers, FPGAs, RTOS).
Proven experience integrating hardware and software within real-time environments.
Comfortable with hands-on tasks such as firmware development, board bring-up, and performance debugging.
Software Proficiency: Proficient in C, C++, Python, MATLAB for algorithm development and system modeling.
Project & Team Leadership: History of successfully leading cross-functional R&D teams and managing complex technical projects.
Hardware-Software Integration: Evidence of strong collaboration with hardware teams to optimize system performance.
Quality Systems: Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., ISO 13485) is a plus.
Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities, well-suited to dynamic R&D settings.
