Engineering Manager

Startup Company in the GenAI space, developing a Generative AI-based platform for code review and guidance for Software Engineers.

The company has raised $51M, employs 50 people, and is in a rapid growth phase—having doubled its size in the past year and planning to do so again in the next.

Located in Tel Aviv near a train line, offering a hybrid model (2 days/week from home).

Key Responsibilities:

• Report directly to the VP R&D
• Manage 8 senior developers, with plans for continued team growth
• 70–80% management responsibilities, including hiring, mentoring, and strategic planning
• 20–30% hands-on involvement in system architecture and technical/product strategy
• Lead development processes and define best practices
• Collaborate with VP R&D on scaling and long-term technical direction
• Oversee the development of a complex AI-based system using advanced LLMs
• Tech Stack: Python, TypeScript, Java, Go, Kotlin, JavaScript, GCP, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, Microservices, Generative AI, NLP, ML/DL.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a startup – must
• Proven experience managing at least 6 developers – must
• Previous title as Engineering Manager / R&D Manager or higher – must
• 6 years of hands-on software development experience – must
• Experience with at least one of the following: Python, Go, TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, Kotlin – must
• Experience working with cloud environments – must (GCP – an advantage)
• Background in SaaS or startup companies – must
• Experience with AI / Machine Learning / Deep Learning products – must
• Experience with Microservices architecture – advantage
• Experience in companies building products for developers (e.g., Swimm, Rookout, Tabnine, JFrog, BlinkOps) – strong advantage
• Familiarity with test-driven design, test automation, Vitest, Playwright, Cypress, or headless testing – advantage
• Experience with CI/CD processes – advantage
