Freelance Data Annotator (Hebrew/English)

We are looking for Hebrew speakers with conversational English proficiency to join an exciting OCR (Optical Character Recognition) annotation project on a freelance basis. Project overview:

You will work on annotating and transcribing Hebrew handwritten text from images. Your main tasks will include:

• Identifying and marking each handwritten character using the provided tools.
• Making sure the marked characters match the provided reference text exactly.
• Assigning the correct label to each marked area based on the project rules.
• Checking your work carefully to fix any mistakes before submitting.

Work details:

• Work format: Remote, ad-hoc (there may be days without tasks)
• Rate: $25/hour
• Schedule: 5 or 7 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with flexible working hours
• Duration: Long-term project
• Contract: NDA

Key responsibilities:

In this project, you will work with images of handwritten Hebrew text. Your main job is to check if the image is clear and usable. Once it’s confirmed, you will use simple tools to carefully mark each letter in the image, making sure each one matches the provided reference text. You will draw neat boxes or shapes around the letters, avoiding extra background, and write down the text exactly as you see it, even if there are mistakes or special marks. Finally, you will give each marked part the right label (like ‘Handwritten’, ‘Printed’, or ‘Title’) and check your work to make sure everything is correct before sending it in.

Ideal candidate profile:

• Native-level proficiency in Hebrew, with excellent reading and writing skills.
• Fluent in English at a conversational level (B2 or higher) to understand guidelines and communicate with the team.
• Technical requirements: A stable internet connection, a computer with at least 6 GB of RAM, and Windows 10+ or macOS.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
• Lived in Israel for at least 5 years, ensuring strong cultural and linguistic familiarity with modern Hebrew usage.
