Freelance Data Annotator (Hebrew/English)

We are looking for Hebrew speakers with conversational English proficiency to join an exciting OCR (Optical Character Recognition) annotation project on a freelance basis. If you are detail-oriented, comfortable with basic computer skills, and interested in contributing to cutting-edge AI technologies, this opportunity is for you!

Project overview:

You will work on annotating and transcribing Hebrew text from images. Your main tasks will include:

• Identifying text areas using rectangles or polygons based on provided instructions.
• Transcribing the detected text accurately.
• Assigning correct labels to each annotation according to project guidelines.

Work details:

• Work format: Remote, ad-hoc (there may be days without tasks)
• Rate: $25/hour
• Schedule: 5 or 7 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with flexible working hours
• Duration: Long-term project
• Contract: NDA

Key responsibilities:

Your primary responsibility is to annotate and transcribe Hebrew text from images. You will carefully draw bounding boxes or polygons around every visible piece of text, ensuring precision and minimal background space. After identifying the text regions, you will transcribe the text exactly as it appears, maintaining all spelling, punctuation, and formatting — even if the original contains mistakes. Each annotation must also be labeled according to specific categories (such as 'Handwritten', 'Printed', 'Title', etc.) following detailed project guidelines.

Ideal candidate profile:

• Native-level proficiency in Hebrew, with excellent reading and writing skills.
• Fluent in English at a conversational level (B2 or higher) to understand guidelines and communicate with the team.
• Technical requirements: A stable internet connection, a computer with at least 6 GB of RAM, and Windows 10+ or macOS.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
• Lived in Israel for at least 5 years, ensuring strong cultural and linguistic familiarity with modern Hebrew usage.
