Senior Research Scientist – Molecular Biology & Single-Cell Genomicsager

Overview:

The Shlush and Tanay labs at the Weizmann Institute of Science are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated PhD-level Research Scientist with extensive experience in molecular biology, DNA sequencing, and single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq). The selected candidate will lead efforts to develop cutting-edge, blood-based assays to replace traditional bone marrow analysis for clinical and research applications. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of translational genomics, hematopoiesis, and cancer diagnostics within two internationally recognized labs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, optimize, and validate next-generation sequencing-based assays from peripheral blood samples.
• Develop single-cell and bulks RNA and DNA workflows to detect hematologic aberrations.
• Integrate molecular biology protocols with bioinformatics tools to assess assay performance.
• Coordinate with clinicians and wet/dry lab teams to translate findings into diagnostic and prognostic tools.
• Maintain rigorous documentation and contribute to high-impact publications and grant proposals.

Requirements:

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Genomics, or a related field.
• Proven track record with DNA/RNA sequencing technologies, particularly single-cell RNAseq.
• Hands-on experience with library preparation, assay development, and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of hematologic malignancies and/or stem cell biology is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a translational or clinical research setting.
• Familiarity with data analysis pipelines or close collaboration with computational biologists.
• Prior experience in biomarker discovery or diagnostic tool development.
