We are looking for a talented and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our engineering team at Lasso Security. This pivotal role will focus on managing engineering teams, building processes from the ground up, and establishing clear metrics and goals for the organization. As Director of Engineering, you will collaborate closely with Product and other departments to drive product development, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions. Your leadership and communication skills will be critical in maintaining a balance between ambition and sustainable work practices.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and grow the engineering team, including engineers and engineering managers.
- Build engineering processes from scratch, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and high-quality outputs.
- Establish clear performance metrics (KPIs/OKRs) and goals for engineering teams, aligning them with overall business objectives.
- Foster strong collaboration between engineering and product teams, ensuring smooth communication, clear prioritization, and alignment.
- Manage team health and well-being, ensuring a sustainable pace of work and high team morale.
- Drive the technical vision and execution of the product roadmap, working closely with CTO and Product leadership.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for the engineering team, with a focus on career growth and skill development.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure ongoing improvement in individual and team performance.
- Manage the hiring process to attract top talent, scale the team effectively, and ensure diverse and inclusive hiring practices.
- Oversee technical leadership and architecture, ensuring that technical solutions meet business needs and are sustainable for long-term growth.
- 7+ years of experience in engineering leadership, preferably in B2B cybersecurity companies.
- Proven track record of managing and scaling engineering teams, with experience managing 2+ Engineering Managers.
- Strong experience in establishing engineering processes, including release cycles, CI/CD, bug management, and ensuring high delivery cadence.
- Deep experience with cloud infrastructure, especially AWS.
- Expertise in managing distributed teams, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and performance across multiple locations.
- Experience working with modern development technologies such as Node.js and React (preferred).
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a focus on team development, coaching, and mentoring.
- Demonstrated success in creating a positive and productive engineering culture, balancing ambition with sustainable growth.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders in product, CTO, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to handle ambiguity and lead in fast-paced, evolving environments, particularly in early-stage or pre-product-market-fit companies.
- Experience in defining and measuring success using OKRs/KPIs for engineering teams.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with a hands-on technical background.
- Experience with SaaS product development.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the ability to implement them effectively across teams.
- Knowledge of product engineering mindset and the ability to balance product and technical challenges.
