Process Development Engineer – Electrochemical Carbon Capture Start-Up

Our technology is designed for gigaton-scale impact, positioning RepAir at the forefront of the shift toward a carbon-negative future. Delivering a highly efficient, sustainable carbon removal solution, our fully electric process requires minimal energy, operates without solvents, and produces no hazardous waste. As a fast-growing company, we are seeking an experienced and visionary Physicist or Mechanical/Chemical/Process Engineer to develop and commercialize our electrochemical carbon capture technologies.
Position Overview:
In this role, you will be a key part of the team responsible for developing and scaling our electrochemical stacks, focusing primarily on experimentation and multi-physics/other simulations. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to test and refine system performance, optimize processes, and develop innovative methodologies for electrochemical CO₂ capture. Your work will be essential in translating lab-scale concepts into scalable, commercial technology.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design, execute, and analyze experiments to advance electrochemical stack performance.
· Develop and refine testing methodologies for evaluating materials, components, and system behavior.
· Conduct simulations (e.g., electrical, mechanical, thermal, and flow) to optimize stack operation and inform experimental design.
· Collaborate with engineers and scientists to bridge the gap between simulation and real-world performance.
· Identify and implement improvements in system design, process efficiency, and scalability.
Qualifications:
Education:
· BSc in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field – Must.
· MSc/PhD – An advantage.
Experience & Skills:
· Strong background in experimental design, data analysis, and problem-solving in a technical setting.
· Proficiency in numerical modeling and multi-physics simulations (e.g., CFD, FEA, electrochemical modeling) – An advantage.
· Experience in process optimization and scale-up of complex engineering systems – An advantage.
· Hands-on approach with the ability to design and execute experiments in a laboratory or pilot setting.
· Strong analytical thinking and ability to adapt to interdisciplinary challenges.
· Experience with electrochemical systems (e.g., fuel cells, electrolyzers, batteries) – Strong Advantage.
· Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
· Can do attitude.
