As Advanced Technology Scientist, you support metrology and inspection developments from Bruker Nano Surfaces & Metrology “BNSM” Division. BNSM is the leader in automated atomic force microscopy (AAFM) and advanced X-ray metrology and inspection tools for the silicon and compound semiconductor industries. The division offers the most comprehensive portfolio tools based on X-ray technologies including XRR (X-ray reflectometry), XRF (X-ray fluorescence), XRD (X-ray diffraction), XRDI (X-ray diffraction imaging), XCD® (X-ray critical dimension scatterometry) and others. The X-ray business unit is based in Migdal Ha’Emek, Israel with R&D facilities in Durham UK as well as sales and support offices and representatives worldwide.
We are looking for someone who has experience in prototyping and demonstrating automated measurement and inspection systems. You should be an experimentalist who has the creativity and skills to work on cutting edge measurement technology. You will work closely with our dedicated team of scientists, engineers, and other members of the team to solve complex problems and create the next generation of innovative solutions for our customers. In addition to experience and knowledge, curiosity and passion will help you to be successful in this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Lead or participate in strategic research projects in the field of X-ray-based metrology and inspection
•Work with the applications, engineering, and marketing teams to understand customer challenges and propose creative solutions to help drive Advanced Technology Development
•Close collaboration with engineering team (electrical, mechanical and software) to develop prototype measurement setups
•Design and conduct experiments to demonstrate feasibility of new measurement setups
•Analyze and interpret experimental data
•Prepare and present research findings to peers and management
•Contribute to technical articles and customer / conference presentations
•Prepare disclosures of new inventions
•Participate in Israeli and EU consortia projects
•Able to travel occasionally (10%), including international travel
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
•Experience planning, designing and operating automated measurement sub-systems
•Fluency with scripting languages used for data collection and analysis, e.g. Python or MATLAB
•Able to learn new scientific and technical concepts efficiently and deeply
•Self-starter with high level of productivity and strong sense of ownership
•Goal oriented with good track record of achieving targets
•Ability to manage & prioritize multiple projects
•Resourceful, proactive, meticulous
•Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve shared goals, but also equally comfortable working independently when required.
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with internal and external customers across different backgrounds and cultures.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills English required with and Hebrew/Russian an advantage
Knowledge and experience in in one, or more, of the following areas would be a distinct advantage:
•X-ray and/or optical metrology technologies and tools
•Prior experience in the semiconductor industry
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
•Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Physics, Materials Science or a related science / engineering field
•Ideally 3+ years post graduate of experience
