THE ROLE

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our R&D department. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead, inspire, and mentor a team of talented and experienced engineers. Drive technological excellence and high product quality, foster a culture of excellence, ownership, and continuous personal and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Mentor and guide the team members, ensuring each team member realizes their full potential while advancing the product vision.
• Collaborate with product management and other teams across Unit to prioritize engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Continuously research and implement management best practices, including providing team members with frequent, actionable, constructive feedback.
• Solve diverse, complex problems at a large scale distributed microservices environment.
  
  

• An experienced team leader (3+ years managing people)
• 5+ years of backend development experience as a senior engineer
• Hands-on experience with building, deploying and maintaining testable, scalable systems in a cloud environment
• Good understanding of critical production systems concepts - high availability, reliability, and scalability
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience with CI/CD
• Production experience with Kubernetes - advantage
• Experience with Scala - advantage
• Passion for Software and Functional Programming - advantage
• Experience with ZIO / Cats / scalaz - advantage
• Experience with DDD, EventSourcing, CQRS - advantage
