Junior Data Scientist

About Us

We are a small agile startup looking for a motivated Junior Data Scientist to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll work on diverse data science projects, from feature engineering and predictive modeling to optimizing business operations. Collaborate across teams to extract meaningful insights from data, develop models, and drive impactful decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You will get the opportunity to work on large, live data sets from leading payment processors, with the ability to impact overall global payment performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Exploration and Feature Engineering
• Collect, prepare, and preprocess structured and unstructured data for analysis.
• Engineer robust features to enhance model performance and optimize experiments

• Predictive Modeling and Optimization Techniques
• Develop and deploy supervised and unsupervised machine learning models to solve business problems.
• Use optimization techniques to improve operational workflows and maximize outcomes.

• Experiment Design and Execution
• Design, execute, and analyze experiments, including A/B and multivariate testing, to measure the impact of new initiatives.
• Define test objectives, metrics, and hypotheses, and determine optimal sample sizes and durations.
• Analyze AB test results to identify statistical significance and actionable insights.

• Tracking and Monitoring
• Validate data consistency and accuracy across experiments.
• Monitor live tests to identify anomalies or issues, ensuring timely resolutions.
• Create reports and dashboards to visualize outcomes and track key metrics.

• Learning and Development
• Create dashboards and visualizations to communicate results.
• Document workflows, methodologies, and insights to ensure reproducibility
• Work closely with senior data scientists to learn advanced techniques and tools.
• Share learnings to enhance scalability and team knowledge.

QualificationsEssential

• Relevant education in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or related fields.
• 2–5 years of experience in data analysis, feature engineering, or model development.
• Proficient in SQL and Python for data extraction and statistical analysis.
• Strong understanding of statistical concepts like hypothesis testing, p-values, confidence intervals, and sample size calculations.
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Preferred

• Experience with large datasets and cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Working with both supervised and unsupervised modeling techniques
• Familiarity with advanced statistical methods and multivariate testing. 
• Familiarity with A/B testing methodologies and tools.
• Payments industry or digital product experience is a plus.
