Engineering Department Development Lead

Job Overview:

Israel Shipyards seeks a highly skilled and experienced senior manager to lead the development operations of its Engineering Department. This role involves overseeing vessel and marine facility design, managing engineering processes, and leading a team of engineers to achieve development objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee engineering development processes and initial design stages for vessels and marine facilities, including:

• Layout, weight, and thrust considerations
• Speed and range performance prediction
• Hydrodynamics and drag
• Stability and sea behavior
• Structural strength, propulsion, electrical, and auxiliary systems

Lead and manage tests and experiments in the development field, including pool and sea trials.

Collaborate with engineering departments and subcontractors to advance development goals.

Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree in Naval Engineering or Naval Architecture from a recognized academic institution (mechanical engineers with a marine engineering background and relevant qualifications will also be considered). Preference is given to candidates with a master’s degree.
• At least 3 years of experience in relevant fields with knowledge of standardization requirements.
• Proficiency in naval architecture software, 3D IBM tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Fluency in English and Hebrew, with excellent reading, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to create high-level techno-engineering documents with a compelling narrative ("storytelling").

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background and experience in the Navy’s technological systems.
