Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly versatile and skilled Field Engineer with a focus on advanced machine vision systems. This role combines field engineering duties, including worldwide travel for system installation, troubleshooting, and customer support, with in-office responsibilities as an Assembly Technician and Support Specialist. During the weeks spent in the office, you will assemble, test, and support the configuration of vision systems, ensuring they are prepared for deployment globally. On the road, you will work directly with clients, ensuring seamless integration and operation of vision systems in diverse industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Field Engineering (Worldwide Travel):

• Installation & Commissioning: Travel globally to install and configure advanced machine vision systems, ensuring seamless integration with customer control equipment.
• System performance Optimization: Fine-tune vision systems algorithms settings to ensure they meet customer specifications, improving performance and efficiency.
• Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting support for machine vision systems, addressing issues related to hardware, software, and optics.
• Customer Training & Support: Train clients on the proper use and maintenance of machine vision systems, ensuring they are equipped to operate the systems efficiently.
• System Updates & Upgrades: Implement system upgrades and updates during on-site visits, ensuring systems remain current with evolving technologies.

Assembly Technician (Office-Based Duties):

• System Assembly & Integration: Assemble and integrate machine vision systems, including cameras, sensors, lighting, and controllers. Test and ensure each system is fully functional before shipment or installation.
• Custom Configuration: Modify and customize vision systems for specific customer requirements, including hardware setup and software configurations.

Support and application Specialist (In-Office Responsibilities):

• Technical Assistance: Provide presale technical support to the sales teams, testing customer material while optimizing the system to reach best performance
• Customer Communication: Maintain communication with clients after installation and provide ongoing support for post-installation issues or system inquiries.
• Collaboration with R&D: Participate in R&D by suggesting, implementing, and evaluating new technical improvements and contributing to system enhancements.
• Training Material Development: Assist in creating training documentation and materials for customer use, ensuring clear system operation and maintenance guidance.

Qualifications:

• Education: engineer or practical engineer degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience:
• 3+ years of experience with machine vision systems, industrial automation, robotics, or related fields, with hands-on experience in installation, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Proven experience assembling and testing complex systems, preferably in a high-tech or automation environment.
• Strong knowledge of machine vision hardware (cameras, lighting, sensors, optics) and software tools.
• Ability to work with automation systems, robotics, and industrial machinery.
• Experience working in customer-facing roles, providing technical assistance and training.
• Familiarity with global travel requirements and ability to work in various industrial settings worldwide.
• Skills:
• Very Strong mechanical skills for system installation, assembly, and testing.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to system troubleshooting and repair.
• Proficiency in desktop PC Windows environment, including ethernet serial communication.  
• Knowledge of system integration and troubleshooting with PLCs, automation protocols, and vision system communications.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, particularly when balancing fieldwork with office-based assembly responsibilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with customers and cross-functional teams.
• English at a very high level in both speaking and writing; additional other languages may be of advantage.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy suitcases with tools and system components (up to 50 lbs).
• Comfort with extensive travel (up to 25% of the year), including international locations, and adaptability to diverse working environments.
• Ability to work long hours and adjust to varying time zones as needed.
