Opto-Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to play a crucial role in the design and development of the heart of our product. The ideal candidate will work shoulder-to-shoulder with our physics and system teams, being responsible for researching and creating a robust and efficient Module in Package (MiP) design, conducting finite element simulations for both mechanical and optical aspects, and ensuring the module's performance aligns with manufacturing tolerances and product requirements.

Job Description

• Mechanical Design: Develop innovative MiP designs for the system's core sensor, considering form, function, and manufacturability.
• Finite Element Simulations: Perform detailed finite element simulations for mechanical and optical components to analyze structural integrity, thermal behavior, reliability, and optimal performance.
• Manufacturing and Mass Production: Define and validate manufacturing tolerances to ensure consistency and reliability during mass production and assembly of complicated micro optical elements and modules.
• Hands-On Work: Lead prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical components and intricate optical elements in our workshop.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including physics, hardware and software, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical aspects.
• Tech Adoption: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and methodologies.
  
  

• M.Sc degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a related field
• Opto-mechanical major or experience - advantage
• Proven experience in finite element simulations for both mechanical and optical systems.
• Track record in designing and optimizing mechanical systems, particularly in micro parts and modules as part of Module in Package (MiP) designs.
• Optional - Experience in mass production and assembly of complex micro optical elements.
• Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks
• Hands-on experience in workshop environments and prototyping.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under tight schedules and adapt to evolving project requirements.
• Fast learner with a proactive and self-driven approach to tasks.
